This morning we were in Teatro degli Astrusi in Montalcino for the first part of the celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino.
The President of the Consorzio Patrizio Cencioni (photo above) started the conference with his welcome speech. Then Luciano Ferraro, from Il Corriere della Sera, was called on stage as well as the members of the 25 families who founded the Consorzio back on April 28, 1967. (Photo on right)
Our proprietor Leopoldo Franceschi (photo) received a celebrating plaque in memory of his grandfather Leopoldo (photo plaque). It was a great emotion for everybody to remind how everything started back in time and how important the effort and the union of these people have been to build the appellation and to help Montalcino to become one of the most important world-wide known region.
Afterwards Marco Do (above), from Michelin Italia, presented the special guide to Italy’s best Restaurants, that Michelin has created with the collaboration of the Consorzio del Brunello.
The Consorzio presented a special box that was made to celebrate this important event (photo above): there are two bottles of 2012 Brunello di Montalcino, donated by different wineries, with two labels made exclusively for this special occasion. Tonight, during the gala dinner, the boxes will be sold and the proceeds will be entirely given to a local charity (the Misericordia), that is in charge of emergency care services in the territory of Montalcino.
